Design Process

How We Arrive at the World’s Best Yacht

Regardless of the cost of construction, our yacht designs are constructed with passion and tenacity to fulfil potential owners’ basic needs. They align with your purpose and vision while scaling through the tests of seaworthiness and friendliness, and most importantly, its responses to changes in nature such as wind force.

Hence, our designs are custom made and identifying with the needs and specifications of our esteemed customers.

At Nor’Sea Yachts, we employ a dynamic design process which is no doubt more tasking than building the ready-made yacht of popular designs. Therefore, we create a draft plan that involves steps to creating your dream yacht. They are:

Transform Your Ideas and Specifications to Reality in the Form of A Sketch Drawing

That is, marking out ideas through lines in building plans that are as essential as building itself. This does not only create your visionary plan but also allows you to make your final decision.

This is the first and foremost step and a curtain-raiser to the main contract. In this phase, our naval architects design the interior, deck and sail plan layout and a side view of the water hulls – which are usually the basic features of a ship.

Furthermore, this stage informs certain decisions and exposes limitations. We inform and advise you of the downside of any part of your specifications and provide you with an estimation of the total construction cost. Usually, we charge 2% of the yacht building price for designing your specifications.

You may also make corrections or adjustments to your specifications at this stage, although you are not bound by any building contract nor bound to take an immediate decision.

Entering into a Building Contract

We believe that time is of the essence, and accurate delivery must be timely. Hence, we set to work immediately you agree to build with Nor’Sea Yacht. Consent and agreements are provided in the form of a building contract. Also, the cost of drawing up the preliminary design is removed from the total cost of construction when you agree to build with us.

Before the conclusion of a building contract, we allow changes and modifications to the preliminary plan. We provide more details into the already drafted plan, although this remains the intellectual property of Nor’Sea Yacht in case you halt the contract.

The final stage of a building contract is securing a slot with us. You secure a slot when you make a part payment set against the actual commencement date of building.

Expanding the Specifications Plan

In this case, we expand our building plan’s details to show a more vivid description of the actual yacht building.

Building the Yacht

This takes place upon completion of the specifications plan and may take up to a year depending on the yacht size and other factors. The hull is built separately in a designated place and may take up to 180 days to complete.

More importantly, we must do the following in respect of the finishing done to a yacht:

  • Carpentry
  • Fixing, Fittings and Installation of several systems
  • Proper testing
  • Adding paint to the outside of the yacht (the hull)
  • Rigging

In respect of yacht building, we appoint a project manager who would often communicate to you. Also, our payment plan is flexible following the building process. Finally, we advise our customers to take serious legal measures and actions in respect of yacht building and usage.

We look forward to hearing from you soon.
